Lionel Messi named the UEFA Best Player Award in Europe

Lionel Messi wins UEFA Best Player Award 2010-2011

Lionel Messi has been voted the winner of inaugural UEFA Best Player Award of the year 2010-2011. Our Xavi came second before Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi scored 53 goals in all competition which included 12 goals in UEFA Champions League which helped him to become the top goalscorer for the third time in a row.

As always Lionel Messi after accepting the awards thanks his teammates for their supports and also added that hunger to win more has been the key to their success.

“I want to share this with my colleagues as it is thanks to them that I win these trophies. I am very lucky to have such good players at my side and it is them who give me the opportunity to score so many goals. The merit is everyone’s.”

Lionel Messi received “Aldo Rovira” trophy

Lionel Messi wasnt part of Barcelona team when his team played against Sporting Gijon, but the fans were delighted to see Lionel Messi receiving “Aldo Rovira” trophy as he became the first player to receive this award given for best player of Barcelona for season 2009-2010.

The award is dedicated to “Aldo Rovira”, son of former club director Josep Lluis Rovira. The trophy was founded on March 18 2010, just one year after the death of Aldo Rovira which will be given to the best player in the season for Barcelona. On 13th May 2010, a jury of 13 directors/heads of sports media in Catalonia and Santi Nolla, director of World Sport met to discuss who was the most outstanding player of Barcelona. There were no discussion required as Messi who was top scorer in Spanish League and Europe was decided to be given the award.

As always, Lionel Messi received a standing ovation from the crowd when he received the award and then sat in the crowd to watch his team-mates playing against Sporting Gijon

Finally, a award that everyone has been waiting for a long time. Lionel Messi has won the FIFA Player of the year 2009 award tonight at Zurich. An award which will make him the first Argentine to win the awards.

Lionel Messi who was third in 2007, then came second in 2008 and now hit the jackpot in 2009, which truely shows the progress that Lionel Messi have made in this last three years and also not to forget that he is just 22 years old.

Lionel Messi was also selected for the FIFPro World XI with 4 Barcelona players finding a place in the FIFPro World XI team. Iniesta, Xavi and Dani Alves were the other Barcelona player who were also a part of FIFPro World XI team.

A great night for Messi and Barcelona fans, who would be proud after what Barcelona have achieve this year and would be ready for an another great year.

Messi receives Club World Cup Golden Ball Award

Leo Messi have added yet another award after receiving the Golden Ball award for this two superb goal and being the match winner in Club World Cup.

A man who was in doubt for Club World Cup manage to win the Golder Ball Award is simply amazing. Scoring two important goal in both matches, but I also believed that Pedro should have atleast given some award as he also scored two goal and the second goal was the most important goal.

Veron received the Silver Ball and Xavi received the Bronze Ball. Barcelona finished the year with six cups and what an amazing year for Pep Guardiola who was unable to stop his tears for creating a history for Barcelona and everyone will remember him as he have done this in his first year as Manager.
